Kimmel Has ‘Footage’ of Pope Francis Getting Caught Smuggling Cigars from Cuba
Pope Francis‘ arrival in the United States on Tuesday was, needless to say, a very big deal. Even though many conservatives have accused him of being a liberal, the pontiff’s arrival stateside after spending some time in Cuba is his first since his election in 2013.
To mark the occasion, Jimmy Kimmel Live previewed “new” footage from CNN of the Pope’s arrival at Joint Base Andrews in Maryland. Was it a clearer shot of his meeting President Barack Obama on the tarmac? Greeting his Secret Service detail? Kissing a baby?
No, it was actually a joke video put together by host Jimmy Kimmel‘s team, in which the Pope tried to smuggle over $100 worth of Cuban cigars into the U.S. Sure, Conan O’Brien might be legally allowed to visit the island nation now, but that doesn’t mean anyone can ignore new trade agreements and bring over whatever they want. Not even the Pope.
