It’s one thing when a late night show can host a group of cinema legends to recount stories from their 1984 classic film. It’s another thing entirely when the show’s sidekick can dress up in a $7500 Stay Puft Marshmallow Man suit and be uncomfortably rolled around the set.
But since it’s Jimmy Kimmel we’re talking about, few would be surprised to learn that Guillermo Rodriguez of Jimmy Kimmel Live donned white makeup and a laughably too-perfect Stay Puft suit to join Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts Wednesday night. Kimmel welcomed the original Ghostbusters cast members, who promptly dragged poor Guillermo onto the interviewer’s couch before sharing stories from filming.
Aykroyd revealed that the inspiration for one of the film’s legendary antagonists — the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man — was a hybrid of a few characters. “I was just looking for something from my childhood that was innocent,” said Aykroyd. He remembered the Angelus Marshmallow company, and combined their signature character with the Michelin Man and the Pillsbury Dough Boy to get the classic we know today.
While the original was good, I think we can all agree that Guillermo’s version is just a smidge better. Check out the above clip from Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC.
