Krauthammer: If Immigration Action Important to Obama, Why Did He Put It Off?
Right after President Obama‘s speech on immigration reform, Charles Krauthammer reacted on Fox News with a big question: if this was so important and such a moral necessity for President Obama, why did he wait for six years to do it?
Krauthammer found a lot of political ingenuousness and “audacity” in the president’s comments, because he decided to wait to do this until after the election, and beyond that, could have acted in 2009 or 2010 when he had control of both chambers of Congress. And so, he added, it “becomes somewhat offensive when he pretends it’s for such high principle.”
Krauthammer did tell Bill O’Reilly that he would support legalization of 11 million immigrants in the United States for some of the reasons Obama laid out, but “only if the country can be assured that this will be the last cohort, the last 11 million, that will be here illegally.”
