Krauthammer Rips Trump Over ‘Amateurish’ Roll Out of Immigration Restrictions
Conservative columnist Charles Krauthammer said on Monday that he wasn’t impressed with how President Trump “botched” up the enactment of his new executive orders this weekend.
In a conversation with Bill O’Reilly, Krauthammer said he didn’t have a problem with Trump’s move towards stronger vetting, but the president invited concerns and criticism by not providing sufficient guidelines right away about how his order should be enforced.
“What you have to have is a policy that you vet before you let it loose on the world in the most amateurish, botched way. I mean, it is utterly ridiculous,” Krauthammer said. “It is not only that they rushed it, they did it in a terrible way.”
O’Reilly noted that the Trump Administration has elaborated on their order’s guidelines, though Krauthammer questioned why it wasn’t spelled out before the order caused complications for Green Card holders and travelers with legitimate visas. Trump has argued that his order was put out to head off any more migrants trying to enter the country, yet Krauthammer wondered if there was an immigration influx that warranted immediate action.
“In the 16 years since 9/11, we haven’t had a single attack where an American has been killed on American soil by anybody coming from these lands, these seven countries. So, what’s the rush?”
