Krauthammer: Trump ‘Completely Undermined’ White House Comey Narrative
One of the more interesting asides that came out today regarding President Trump‘s sudden and bombshell firing of now-former FBI Director James Comey was the story of who was truly behind the firing.
In the letter that the President released Tuesday evening, the White House claimed that Trump was simply following the recommendation of Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. But Deputy Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders alleged that she didn’t think that the White House ever tried to pin the decision on Mr. Rosenstein.
Who to believe? Well according to Charles Krauthammer: “Nobody.”
The White House press department’s poor and inconsistent communications strategy in rolling out the Comey firing has been nothing but a hot mess. Mr. Kruathammmer went so far as to ridicule these inconsistencies by saying the White House communications team was “completely undermined” by Trump saying he was going to fire Comey anyway in his NBC interview on Wednesday night.
