Lady Gaga Takes Over Today Show, 20,000 Little Monsters Show Up

We braved the brief bouts of rain and 20,000 Lady Gaga fans to attend the biggest concert in this year’s NBC Today show series this morning.

Styleite has all the behind-the-scenes pictures and videos – we talked to Senior Producer Melissa Lonner about what set the Gaga concert apart from others.

Lonner said that this was the longest line the 15-year history of the Today Summer Concert Series, which stretched nine blocks down 5th Avenue. The rain didn’t seem to bother the crowd, and certainly not Lady Gaga.

“She loved the rain, and now she’ll never forget the Today show,” Lonner told us. “She was such a professional, on time, did all the rehearsals, and we said, ‘if you want to skip the last song, because it was pouring down,’ she said ‘absolutely not.'”

As Today maintains the top network morning show slot, Lonner stressed how important these news-making entertainment moments are. “It brings great buzz to the show, it shows that we’re still on our game, which we should be,” she said. “And that we don’t take being number one for granted.”
