With friends like these…
Democratic strategist Lanny Davis is a self-described friend of Bill O’Reilly, and frequent guest on The O’Reilly Factor, so it made sense for host Michael Smerconish to ask for his opinions on O’Reilly’s future at Fox News. As seen on Mediaite, there is a lot of metaphoric smoke billowing from O’Reilly’s office based on sexual harassment allegations and his future at the cable news channel (where his ratings continue to soar.)
Well, let’s consider Davis’ counsel as “tough love,” as he brutally suggested that Mr. O’Reilly’s anger is getting in the way of resolving a crisis “that’s a lot more important than his audience and his show.” Davis continued by adding that O’Reilly should go back to basics. “Whatever happened, you have hurt people. You need to just simply address that you’ve hurt people. You don’t want to hurt people. You’re sorry for that. You want to move on.”
