Lara Spencer Promoted to Co-Host of ABC’s Good Morning America
In an email sent out to the full ABC News division Friday, new ABC News president James Goldston announced that Good Morning America anchor Lara Spencer has been promoted to co-host alongside George Stephanopoulos and Robin Roberts. Spencer rejoined ABC News three years ago after an extended stint in syndication and on CBS’ Early Show.
“Lara is clearly an essential ingredient in the success we have enjoyed and I am so pleased to announce that Lara has been elevated to co-host of the program along with Robin and George,” Goldston wrote in his announcement.
The ABC News president, who took over for Ben Sherwood, who moved up to lead the Disney-ABC Television Group, also took the opportunity to remark on his new role.
“As I close out my first week in the new job, I want to take a moment to thank everyone for all your good wishes,” Goldston wrote. “I could not be more excited and honored to work with this stellar team. Your dedication and passion are unmatched and I look forward to reaching great new heights alongside all of you.”
