During her appearance on Hannity Monday night, Ann Coulter decided to offer up the “black perspective” on First Lady Michelle Obama’s remarks on racism at this past weekend’s Tuskegee University commencement. But it wasn’t her suggestion that FLOTUS was “letting out her Reverend Wright” or even that she was admitted to Princeton without being able to read that got The Nightly Show’s Larry Wilmore so upset.
No, it was Coulter’s repeated suggestion that the “Democratic policies of Jim Crow,” and the “Great Society programs” of President Lyndon B. Johnson, have a monopoly on racism that spurred Wilmore to take her to “Knowledge College” Tuesday night.
“Ann Coulter tries to act as if Democrats are the only ones who are racist in this country,” Wilmore said, before explaining to her that Johnson drove many of those “Dixiecrats” to vote for Richard Nixon when he signed the Voting Rights Act and the Civil Rights Act. “But what comfort would those racist Democrats find in non-racist Republican Richard Nixon?” the host asked, before playing some truly awful remarks about all kinds of ethnic groups from the Nixon tapes.
“The bigger point is that both Republicans and Democrats have had a lot of affirmative action when it comes to discriminating against black people,” Wilmore concluded. “Class dismissed.”
