Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman spoke out about the massacre that took place in her city last night.
Speaking with Fox News’ Brian Kilmeade, Goodman called the shooter Stephen Paddock a “scumbag” who “has taken so selfishly” the 59 innocent lives lost.
“It’s been a tragic time,” Goodman said. “How dare any human being do that.”
Goodman applauded the first responders, law enforcement, the doctors and nurses as well as the custodial staff at local hospitals for their handling of the incident.
“They have done their utmost to save as many lives as possible, but the tragedy remains for all the people who don’t know where their loved ones are,” Goodman continued. “It’s been extremely difficult, but we have heard from around the country from mayors and governors in people and even from Canada. Just expressing their love and their horror and how we are doing it but one single crazed madman has turned this city upside down temporarily.”
She went on to praise the “wonderful community” in Las Vegas, noting the 5-6 hour lines to give blood and the over $2 million that was raised to help the victims.
“This has just been a tremendous bonding for us all as we come together,” Goodman added. “And we just know that the sadness is that there probably a beautiful number of 59 new stars in the heavens and we are just tragically stricken by this.”
