Laura Ingraham: Andrew Gillum is the ‘African-American Male Version of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’
Laura Ingraham weighed in on the upset victory of Andrew Gillum in the Democratic gubernatorial primary in Florida.
On the subject of “hard-left socialist candidates,” Ingraham told her viewers that Tuesday night’s elections “told us a lot,” noting how liberal billionaires Tom Steyer and George Soros put their money behind Gillum and “defied expectations” in the Democratic primary by winning the nomination among five other candidates.
The Fox News host compared the Tallahassee mayor to another progressive candidate who also pulled off an upset in her primary.
“Gillum is the African-American male version of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez,” Ingraham said. “He’s young, he’s kind of dynamic, and he’s running on a platform of universal medicare, legalize marijuana, and abolishing ICE. And he’s viewed by hard-left Democrats as kind of a savior from the stranglehold that the party’s establishment has had on their desires, hopes, and dreams.”
She sarcastically declared that Steyer and Soros “picked the perfect guy,” citing that the Tallahassee city hall is under FBI criminal investigation and noting the city has the “highest crime rate” in all of Florida for three years in a row.
“Good going guys,” Ingraham added, giving a thumbs up. “That’s something to run on.”
Gillum will be facing off against pro-Trump Florida congressman Ron DeSantis in November.
