Lawrence O’Donnell tonight took a great deal of glee in reporting on the emerging feud between Bill O’Reilly and Rush Limbaugh over the former’s surprising take on the gay marriage issue. O’Reilly appeared to sympathize with the pro-gay marriage side, which earned him a pretty stern rebuke from Limbaugh. O’Donnell said that this is just the latest installment of a long-standing feud between the two men, whom O’Donnell said “hate each other.”
O’Donnell claimed that O’Reilly once tried to challenge Limbaugh on the radio and failed, while Limbaugh failed in his attempts to jump to TV. He stated that they’re “very jealous of each other,” but credited O’Reilly for being smarter than Limbaugh.
O’Reilly used to be very traditionalist on gay marriage and even predicted legalization would lead to bestiality… and then last night happened. O’Donnell mocked Limbaugh for viewing marriage as the “union of one man and as many women as he wants,” and called out O’Reilly for attacking politicians like Bill Clinton for basically doing the same thing he did in softening their positions on gay marriage.
