Lawrence O’Donnell Tears Huckabee Apart For His ‘Obama Grew Up In Kenya’ Remark
Earlier Mike Huckabee shared his belief that President Obama grew up in Kenya, and then later his spokesperson expressed regret that Huckabee “simply misspoke.” This series of statements allowed Lawrence O’Donnell to delicately and intelligently eviscerate Huckabee and attempt to extinguish any credibility he should be granted as a potential contender for President.
After O’Donnell established where and when Obama actually grew up, he then, smelling a kill, suggested, “Huckabee refers to Obama growing up in Kenya as ‘the one thing I do know’ – if that is the one thing that Mike Huckabee knows, then Huckabee knows less than nothing.” From there he said that Huckabee’s knowledge on any other issue should also be disregarded and asked “what does Huckabee know about anything other than how to lose weight?” And O’Donnell dismissed Huckabee’s attempt at a correction as the “lamest possible press release.”
O’Donnell then cited a poll suggesting more than a majority of Republican primary voters don’t believe Obama was born in the United States and concluded about Huckabee, “in his ugly pursuit of those votes, he has now fallen below the already low standard for integrity that we have come to expect from former governors of Arkansas.” Watch out, no one is safe when O’Donnell is angry, as it seems like President Bill Clinton was also just on the receiving end of a stinging and memorable “Last Word.”
