Lawsuit Accuses Paula Deen And Her Brother Of Sexual Harassment, Racism At Their Seafood Restaurant
Lisa Jackson, a former manager at the Savannah, GA-based Uncle Bubba’s Oyster House, filed the suit, claiming that Deen and her brother contributed to a “hostile work environment” by condoning sexual harassment and racism at the restaurant.
The 33-page complaint also alleges that Deen made the following racist remark while planning her brother’s 2007 wedding:
I want a true southern plantation-style wedding… I would really like a bunch of little n****rs to wear long-sleeve white shirts, black shorts and black bow ties, you know in the Shirley Temple days… [n]ow that would be a true southern wedding wouldn’t it? But… the media would be on me about that.
Additionally, Radar.com is reporting that Hiers had once allegedly asked Jackson to “bring pictures of herself when she was young for him to view,” said that he would like to replace the restaurant’s staff with “Hooters girls,” and once passed around a picture a two women kissing during a meeting.
Attorneys for the plaintiff told CNN today that Deen’s lawyers mounted an unsuccessful attempt to have a gag order put in place. Have a look at CNN’s report on the lawsuit, below:
