Letterman Finally Addressed The Latest Tonight Show Shakeup Last Night
Last week, while the other late night hosts were making subtle jabs at NBC and themselves over the news that Jimmy Fallon would be replacing Jay Leno as host of the Tonight Show, David Letterman stayed silent on the matter. But that changed last night, when Letterman opened his monologue with a joke about how CBS wants him to handle to new competition.
Letterman began by telling his audience that he recently received telephone call from the CBS executives. “They call up and they want to know if I would mind changing my name to Jimmy,” he joked. When the change does happen next year, Letterman will stand out for being the only one of the big three late night hosts not named “Jimmy.”
Meanwhile, Conan O’Brien was on vacation last week and neglected to mention the NBC situation during his first show back last night. Perhaps this is proof that he has finally moved on and put his own NBC fiasco behind him.
