Yesterday Donald Trump tweeted out, then deleted an image of Hillary Clinton and a Star of David reading “most corrupt candidate ever” in front of piles of money. This is the image in question:
It was taken down after lots of people went off on the pretty serious anti-Semitic implications.
But former Trump campaign manager Corey Lewandowski insisted today “a tweet is a simple tweet,” even as CNN’s Brianna Keilar questioned him on that.
He said that sheriffs across the country use six-point stars (no, seriously, he gave that excuse), and said the media is unfairly attacking Trump and reading into “something that isn’t there.”
Keilar asked, “If there’s nothing there, Corey, then why did they pull it and sent out the new tweet?”
Lewandowski said, “This is political correctness run amok.”
Oh, just for a kicker here, but Mic today uncovered that the original image came from white supremacists. But sure, political correctness run amok, why not?
