Lewandowski: Trump Should Fire Head of Consumer Financial Protection Bureau

Corey Lewandowski this morning openly volunteered the name of someone he thinks President Trump should fire: Director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau Richard Cordray.

When talking about new Chief of Staff Gen. John Kelly, Lewandowski said on Meet the Press, “I think the General should re-look at firing Richard Cordray, the CFPB. He is a person who is now all but running for Governor in the state of Ohio and he’s sitting in a federal office right now.”

Chuck Todd picked up on this “random thing you just introduced there” and asked him why he singled out Cordray.

“I think Richard Cordray,” Lewandowski responded, “is somebody who is campaigning now for Governor of Ohio. He’s sitting in an office right now at the CFPB. It’s my recommendation to the President of the United States to fire Richard Cordray.”

Since he brought it up, Todd asked whether he has “any business interests here,” but Lewandowski said he has “no clients whatsoever” here.

The former Trump campaign manager is not the first to call on the President to fire Cordray. Republican legislators have made similar calls before.
