Lewis Black: Jon Stewart ‘Looking Around’ for Next His Next Role

In an appearance at the National Press Club, comedian and former correspondent with The Daily Show, Lewis Black, was asked how Comedy Central host Jon Stewart reacted to the news that his colleague, Stephen Colbert, will be taking over as the next host of CBS’ Late Show. Black said that Stewart was happy for Colbert and is “looking around” himself at moving on to directing films or writing full-time.

“I’ll ask Jon,” Black said when asked if he thought Stewart should have been considered as David Letterman‘s replacement. “I don’t know if Jon would have taken it.”

“Jon directed a movie recently, I think, and he writes,” Black continued. “I think Jon is looking around for things. I think if the movie went well, he might end up in that.”

“He might stay with this,” he said of Stewart’s current role as The Daily Show host.

Black concluded by noting that CBS’ selection of Colbert was a good fit for both the host and the show.
