Just in time to celebrate Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jimmy Kimmel brought back his Lie Witness News segment in order to see how people would react if the civil rights leader was still alive to endorse Donald Trump.
With all of the things the real estate mogul has said about Mexicans, Muslims and other groups, the question of whether Trump is the candidate most sensitive about race and social issues is highly debatable. Nonetheless, Kimmel’s crew got a wide range of responses across Los Angeles, asking questions ranging from how they felt about the endorsement, to whether participants thought it was a reaction to Hillary Clinton getting the approval of Malcolm X:
Naturally, some participants thought that King endorsing Trump would be a terrible idea, but there were others who swallowed their surprise and assumed that MLK honestly thought the mogul would be the best president.
Whether you believe any of the people that Kimmel’s camera crew interviewed or if they were just playing along, Kimmel has managed to prove that the magical world of what-ifs is still quite open where Trump’s highly-unusual campaign is concerned.
