On Tuesday, conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh attacked political blogs, including POLITICO, for chronicling the tense back and forth between him and syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer. “I do not do rivalries or feuds with other conservatives,” Limbaugh declared. “I don’t do it.”
Krauthammer and Limbaugh have been engaged in a long-distance spat over who was more aware of how liberal President Barack Obama would govern first.
“I was shocked,” Limbaugh said of quotes recently uncovered by Krauthammer and fellow columnist George who both mused in 2008 – 2009 about how Obama might govern as a moderate. “I knew who he was,” he said. “He’s a liberal. That’s all I need.”
“I assume that we’re all on the same page and that we’re all staring on the same page, and I was wrong,” he said.
Limbaugh turned to POLITICO and attacked them for insisting that he was feuding with conservatives who he said had not accurately pegged the president before he was inaugurated. Limbaugh said it was not his purpose to criticize Krauthammer.
“My purpose was to illustrate how much ground we’ve got to go,” Limbaugh said. “The things I assume and know to be true many others don’t. And it does flabbergast me, but there was no accusation here. There was just surprise.”
Limbaugh played a sound bite of Krauthammer and Will wondering how Obama would govern and whether he would be a “centrist.”
“I figured Obama out in 2008. In fact, I figured Obama out at the convention speech,” Limbaugh insisted. “There was no mystery. Every liberal disguises who they are.”
“There’s no such thing a s a moderate liberal. There’s no such thing as a moderate radical,” he insisted. “I’m shocked that others didn’t know it as well.”
