On Fox News this morning, Senator Lindsey Graham slammed Fox News for its “lousy” rules for the first Republican 2016 debate and said it rewards celebrity over substance.
Fox News will only allow the top ten polling candidates on the debate stage (candidates outside the top ten have all been invited to a separate forum Fox is holding that day). Bill Hemmer asked Graham today if he’d participate.
Graham said he’s not sure yet, but lamented how “dumb” it is that “anybody with any celebrity would be in the debate” while certain senators from South Carolina with not as much recognition as, say, reality show loudmouths would be kept out.
Graham called the debate rules a “lousy way, in my view, to determine who should be on the stage, and I, quite frankly, resent it.”
He kept insisting to Hemmer that the Fox debate rules are “destroying the early primary process” and the candidates with the most money are the ones who benefit most from them.
