Lindsey Graham: Trump Lying About Sex Not Enough to Impeach

In an interview with Fox News anchor Neil Cavuto Friday, Sen. Lindsey Graham said that he doesn’t care if President Donald Trump lied about sex.

The South Carolina Republican defended the president vigorously as Cavuto questioned him on Trump’s metastasizing legal woes — from the Southern District of New York investigation that appears to have fingered him as complicit in felony campaign finance violations to the Mueller investigation into his campaign’s Russia ties.

Graham dismissed the allegations Trump illegally ordered his lawyer to make hush payments to women claiming affairs weeks before the 2016 election, explaining away those alleged crimes by saying “it doesn’t have a damn thing to do with Russia.”

The senator did concede that he doesn’t believe Trump’s defenses — replying to Cavuto with an emphatic “NO!” when asked — but went on to argue he doesn’t care about lying about one’s personal life.

“No,” Graham said on whether he believes Trump. “He’s always under siege. He is saying this one minute and that the next. It’s what he does that matters.”

Graham went on to compare Trump to former President Bill Clinton, who was impeached for lying about his affair with Monica Lewinsky.

“I voted against that article of impeachment, because I think most people, blindsided, would lie to protect their family,” Graham said. “Lying about sex wasn’t enough then for me and it’s not enough now.”
