Lindsey Graham appeared on Face the Nation and declared today, “I believe Donald Trump would be an absolute disaster for the Republican party, destroy conservatism as we know it, we would get wiped out.”
He also told John Dickerson that it would take “generations to overcome a Trump candidacy.”
Graham repeatedly implored John Kasich to either get out of the race or work with Ted Cruz, because for as much as Graham dislikes Cruz, he said at least his colleague is a “real Republican” and a reliable conservative, not an “interloper.”
That being said, in talking about the anger Trump has exploited, Graham did partly blame Cruz for getting people angry by promising unrealistic things.
Dickerson asked, “Which is more complicated: the future of the Middle East or the Republican party?” Graham said, “There’s a pathway forward in the Middle East.”
