“Whether or not the press is able to do its job is one of the determining factors in whether a revolution succeeds or fails,” Maddow explained, and while she gave blanket praise to those reporters that had been putting their lives on the line in Egypt, she also noted that just because there is a free press doesn’t mean it’s working well– in fact, for Beck and Hannity, it’s “bringing out the worst” in them.
She then proceeded to play one of the many now-famous clips of Beck equating the Muslim Brotherhood with the radical left, quipping that “we called this segment ‘Seriously?!’ for a reason,” paraphrasing Beck’s
After that vicious attack, however, Maddow completely shifted her attitude towards all of Fox News– praising those that are gathering news outside of the opinion segment. She even concluded favorably for the network: “For some folks in the media– and including some folks working at Fox News– it is really bringing out the best in their work. But also, there’s Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck.”
