MSNBC host Rachel Maddow hailed the Supreme Court’s decisions on the Defense of Marriage Act and Proposition 8 on Wednesday — declaring the issue of gay marriage in the this country to, effectively, be decided. “The argument is won,” she asserted.
Speaking about the political fight over the issue of marriage, Maddow argued the “political winds on this are now blowing so hard in one direction that the idea that we will go back is almost unimaginable, in any state in the country.”
Yes, going forward we will see a good deal of politics and arguments, Maddow added, but the landmark decisions have settled it.
“This is now decided as a nation,” Maddow stated emphatically. “The argument is won.”
