Magic Johnson to CNN: Sterling Attacked Me Out of Desperation

Magic Johnson spoke out today in a CNN interview, reacting to Donald Sterling‘s controversial remarks about him and his HIV diagnosis on CNN yesterday. In a preview clip aired on The Lead, Johnson tells Anderson Cooper Sterling is going after him in his desperation to lash out when he’s on the verge of losing his team.

Johnson refuted the idea he doesn’t do enough for urban America and said, “He’s a man who’s upset and he’s reaching. He’s reaching. He’s trying to find something that he can grab on to help him save his team. And it’s not going to happen.”

Johnson told Cooper he’s not holding a grudge against Sterling. He said, “I’m a God-fearing man and I’m going to pray for him and hope things work out for him.”
