During tonight’s Real Time panel on Islam, terrorism, and refugees, Bill Maher got a little testy. He referred to the “civil war” going on in the culture that surrounds Islam.
“We should stand with the people who want to live in the 21st Century, not the ones who want to live in the Seventh,” he said to great applause.
And in talking about how he’s seen Muslim women completely covering themselves, Maher said, “it’s fucking sick to cover a woman like that.”
One person who gave pushback was Ana Marie Cox, who was on hand to insist that not nearly all Muslims are associated with radicalism.
Representative Jack Kingston, however, wanted to spread the blame even farther. He went on to claim that the chaos on the news is representative of “the Barack Obama world.” He even blamed Hillary Clinton for the formation and rise of ISIS.
To see how these conflicting viewpoints worked together on the panel, watch above.
