Maher on Orlando: Why Aren’t Liberals Denouncing Violence Against Gays in Muslim Nations?

maher2After having some fun at Donald Trump‘s expense, Bill Maher tonight turned to Orlando and talked both about guns and Islam, a subject that he’s been particularly vocal about.

Maher agreed with conservative guest Emily Miller that it’s beyond unfair to say anti-gay radical Christians are on the same level as anti-gay radical Muslims. But then from there, the two of them got into a fierce back and forth about gun control.

But Business Insider’s Josh Barro steered things back to Maher’s critique of Islam and said, “Islamist violence in the United States is very rare.”

That set off Maher, who said that Muslims in America enjoy freedoms––including being openly gay––that would get them punished incredibly harshly in many Muslim nations. He asked, “Where are the liberals to stand up for them?”
