Bill Maher had some words of praise tonight for Eric Holder, upon the news of the attorney general’s retirement. He called Holder a “badass” bad cop who served as a nice contrast to President Obama‘s good cop.
While Charles Blow thought it was “inartful” for Holder to call the U.S. a “nation of cowards” on race, he credit Holder for how he took on racism and equality as a big issue of his tenure. Maher really went after Ted Cruz for saying Republicans should refuse to vote on Holder’s replacement until after the midterms, which Maher found amazing; the idea of “loudly proclaim[ing] that you are not going to do your job.”
But Maher was far more astounded at Fox News’ Andrea Tantaros for saying last month that Holder “runs that DOJ like the Black Panthers would.” Maher was floored by this statement and remarked that Tantaros must be the Fox News host for people “who find Elisabeth Hasselbeck too intellectual.”
