Male Fox Guest: Hillary Sounds ‘Shrill,’ ‘Like a Cat Being Dragged Across a Blackboard’
Talk radio show host Chris Plante said on Fox News that Hillary Clinton‘s voice was “shrill” and “annoying,” but maintained that saying so didn’t make him a sexist.
In a segment discussing the criticism of male pundits like MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough for telling Clinton not to shout, host Gretchen Carlson highlighted the problem by playing video of male candidates yelling as well, arguing that Clinton was being criticized for what male candidates do every day.
“That’s speaking assertively and perhaps somewhat aggressively,” Plante argued when played audio of Donald Trump and Ted Cruz, “Politicians have been doing that for time immemorial. And some people’s voices are more annoying than other people’s voice.”
But when Plante was played audio of Clinton shouting, he had a different answer. “She sounds annoying,” he said. “I think there’s a difference.”
“I grew up on the north shore of Chicago, Hillary Clinton grew up in the Chicago area. She has that nasal Midwestern twang that kicks in, and her voice changes…” he said. “I, and many other people, do find Hillary Clinton’s voice to be shrill. In fact, it sounds like a cat being dragged across a blackboard a lot of the time.
