CNN contributor and HuffPost Live host Marc Lamont Hill disagreed with his site’s decision to cover Donald Trump on the entertainment page, not the politics page, calling it disrespectful to voters.
HuffPost made the decision last week over the very-reasonable fears that saturation coverage of the Trump spectacle was enabling an obviously unserious campaign. Critics responded that it wasn’t the political press corps’ job to be deciding who was and wasn’t a serious candidate.
“Even if he’s not leading the polls, he’s in a national presidential election, he belongs on the politics page,” Hill said.
“I think it disrespects the voters, it’s condescending,” Hill continued. “I think it absolutely does the opposite of what we’re supposed to do in media. We’re not supposed to be picking winners and losers, here.”
