Only two days before the Istanbul terrorist attack Tuesday that left over forty people dead and dozens more wounded, Florida Senator Marco Rubio predicted that Turkey would very soon be the victim of an ISIS-related attack.
Here was what Rubio said Sunday in the extended version of a Face the Nation interview posted online by CBS [h/t RedState].
We’ve seen already the attacks in Belgium. We’ve seen the attacks in France. We’ve seen attempted and thwarted attacks elsewhere, so because of all of that I think NATO takes on a special purpose. One of our NATO allies right now that faces the greatest threat of ISIS is Turkey. I would not be surprised over the next few weeks to see major ISIS operations within Turkey, itself.
Now we say Rubio may have accurately predicted the attack, because as of yet, ISIS has not taken any responsibility. Rubio would be right on the money if it indeed turns out to be ISIS, but investigators have not ruled out other possibilities.
