Marco Rubio Slams Rival: Trump Is ‘the Most Vulgar Person to Ever’ Run for President
Florida Senator Marco Rubio — known in some parts of the Republican party by his street name “Little” — told CNN’s Alisyn Camerota Friday morning point-blank that Donald J. Trump is “the most vulgar person to ever aspire to the presidency”.
Rubio actually corrected himself in order to land the punch; at first, he simply noted that Trump was “perhaps” the most vulgar, then went for the sensationalized jugular and gave Trump the all-time title.
Camerota asked on CNN’s New Day, “Pundits have a lot of different descriptions about last night. Some are calling it rowdy, some raucous, some say it was at times raunchy. How do you describe what happened last night?”
RUBIO: Well, I think it’s par for the course in this very unusual election. Look, I go into the debates and I hope every question is a policy question. It hasn’t been that way because Donald Trump has been perhaps the most vulgar — no, I don’t think perhaps — the most vulgar person to ever aspire to the presidency in terms of how he’s carried out his candidacy, and it’s cut into a lot of these debates and some of the things that are asked about.
Rubio continued, “Voters deserve better than what they are getting out of these debates and out of this campaign.”
Ten points to Camerota for the sly joke, “I mean, of course you’ve taken a page out from Donald Trump’s playbook. You’ve talked about his little hands, and last night, that came up. He talked about his endowment, and I don’t mean to his alma mater,” referring to how Trump, a 69-year-old grown adult man, referenced the size of his penis to a national audience.
The feud between Rubio and Trump was on full display last night in Detroit, where the two duked it out on stage during the latest GOP debate with a dizzying array of juvenile jabs and schoolyard insults. Trump slammed Rubio for his height; Rubio teased Trump’s temperament and invoked the size of Trump’s tiny hands, which have bizarrely become the newest fascination from the 2016 stump. All this from two of the leading contenders for the Republican party nomination for President.
