Mark Halperin took aim at the Clinton Foundation’s controversial donation disclosures on Sunday morning, telling George Stephanopoulos that an assistant secretary of state would have been fired if he or she had engaged in similar practices as Hillary Clinton.
As for what we don’t yet know, Halperin said it is unclear what kinds of conversations Clinton had on her private email account about Bill Clinton‘s speeches and foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation that might have influenced her actions as the nation’s top diplomat.
“If they hadn’t been so careless at the foundation, if she hadn’t deleted the emails, and if they put somebody out on the show today to answer the questions, I think a lot of this could be put to rest,” Halperin said on This Week. “But none of those things are true.”
Halperin echoed earlier claims by Newt Gingrich, who said earlier in the segment that anyone other than Clinton would be indicted for the foreign donations because they amount to bribery.
