Mary Cheney Fires Back at Sister’s Anti-Gay Marriage Comments (Again)

Mary Cheney and her wife Heather Poe separately criticized Wyoming senatorial candidate Liz Cheney on Facebook Sunday, after the younger Cheney voiced her opposition to same-sex marriage on Fox News Sunday.

“I love Mary very much, I love her family very much, but this is just an issue on which we disagree,” Cheney told host Chris Wallace Sunday morning.

The elder Cheney responded on her Facebook page later that afternoon, writing “Liz – this isn’t just an issue on which we disagree, you’re just wrong – and on the wrong side of history.”

“Liz has been a guest in our home, has spent time and shared holidays with our children, and when Mary and I got married in 2012 – she didn’t hesitate to tell us how happy she was for us,” Poe posted on her own wall. “To have her say she doesn’t support our right to marry is offensive to say the least.”

If you’re having déjà vu, that’s because this exact sequence of events played out two months ago, with Liz Cheney publicly opposing same-sex marriage and Mary Cheney responding via Facebook.
