Matt Damon joined Jake Tapper on Friday to talk about his work bringing water and sanitation to people in need, but one of the issues they touched on was criticism over Damon sending his children to private school when he’s been very supportive of the public school system. In particular, Damon fired back at some criticism he got from Jeb Bush on the matter.
Damon admitted he would rather his kids attend public school and wants them to be “part of their local community,” but didn’t take too kindly to Bush accusing him of hypocrisy on the matter.
“I think it was Jeb Bush [who] tweeted that and then he retracted it pretty quickly. Although I’d eat my shoe if he could name a Bush that ever even walked into a public school, but that’s another story.”
And, in fact, he may very well have to, because as Newsbusters points out, Jeb Bush, George W. Bush, and the former president’s two daughters Jenna and Barbara all attended public school at some point.
