Chris Matthews ended Hardball last night suggesting, part-jokingly, that President Obama should sue Congress. But he opened the show tonight talking about it again, so he might be starting to take this a little more seriously as an idea. See, Matthews still believes this is easily a case of “Congress denying the country honest and faithful service.” So why not “sue the heck outta them?”
Matthews was rather astonished at the feedback he got last night, and charged that Congress “could be held liable, I believe, for not doing anything.” Joan Walsh and Jonathan Capehart agreed that Matthews tapped into some very real frustration, though Capehart did say the notion of Obama suing Congress is just as ludicrous as the other way around.
Matthews predicted the GOP’s lawsuit won’t go anywhere anyway, seeming to indicate he wasn’t 100 percent serious, but he did treat the idea of suing the Congress as more than just a joke.
