Matthews Implies in Joke That Chris Christie May ‘Crush’ His Wife in Bed

During a question and answer period before an audience of Thinkfest attendees in Philadelphia on Thursday, MSNBC host Chris Matthews took a jab at New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s weight. But Matthews took the creative route of mocking the recently reelected Republican governor for how his weight could potentially “crush” his wife.

“Two days after Election Day, Chris Christie has crushed his opponent,” said Philadelphia Magazine editor Tom McGrath on Thursday. “Is he going to be the Republican…”

“The one I feel for is his wife,” Matthews interjected.

“Why’s that?” McGrath asked amid uproarious laughter from the crowd.

“Did you just say ‘crush?’ I mean, use your imagination,” Matthews continued. “You poor dear. You poor dear.”
