Matthews Presses Conway Over Trump Not Investigating Hillary: This Was a ‘Motivating Emotion’
Chris Matthews confronted Kellyanne Conway tonight on why Donald Trump is publicly saying he won’t pursue investigations into Hillary Clinton. The president-elect said that the Clintons have “been through enough” and wants to move forward in the name of unity.
But Matthews told Conway tonight that “Crooked Hillary” resonated really well with people and undoubtedly factored into last-minute decisions to choose Trump over Clinton.
Matthews pointed out how the “crooked” label was “one of the real motivating emotions,” and so he asked Conway, “Is there a belief that she’s Crooked Hillary or is that something that’s been dropped?”
Conway said that many Americans still have questions about Clinton’s “scandalabra,” but Matthews pressed her on whether Trump plans on doing anything concrete to “call off the dogs.”
As Matthews noted, there are Republicans in oversight positions in Congress who want to keep the email investigations going. Matthews asked Conway if Trump is considering a pardon (or, at least, if he hasn’t ruled it out).
Conway said she’s not sure where Trump’s thinking is on that.
