During a combative interview tonight on MSNBC, host Chris Matthews stated that he didn’t have any issues with former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani until he joined up with Donald Trump’s campaign.
The MSNBC host continued to press the Trump surrogate over the tone of the campaign and wondered why they insisted on dabbling in conspiracy theories.
Eventually, the conversation came down to this past summer’s Hillary Clinton health rumors, which Matthews noted Giuliani had taken a part in spreading.
“But why do you say that kind of thing in a campaign,” Matthews asked Giuliani, regarding the ex-NYC mayor taking pride in mentioning how he brought up her health before she collapsed at the September 11th memorial.
“Are you proud,” Matthews exclaimed. “You’re a smart guy. You’re a smart politician. I’ve known you forever. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with you until this campaign!”
Giuliani replied that he was proud of the way he had conducted himself.
