Matthews: Why Doesn’t Obama Just Sue Congress Instead?

Chris Matthews made somewhat of a modest proposal on his show Monday: if John Boehner is going to sue President Obama, why doesn’t Obama just sue Congress right back for a “failure to provide services”?

Matthews appeared to be only half-joking at most about this, explaining that while this would normally be an absurd thought, we’re in “suing season” anyway. He said, “Think of all the ways Congress has failed to perform its regular duties. Basically left its inbox stuffed with undone work.”

Matthews argued by not acting on a number of big issues, and not voting on nominees to fill important positions, Congress is demonstrating a failure to provide services that Matthews believes would be actionable.

He concluded, “If little old John Boehner can slap a suit at you, you can slap it back.”
