McCabe’s 60 Minutes Interview Prompts Lindsey Graham to Call for Senate Hearing
In an interview that aired on 60 Minutes on Sunday, former deputy FBI director Andrew McCabe said that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein offered to wear a wire to secretly record conversations in the White House.
He also said that Rosenstein brought up the notion of invoking the 25th Amendment against Trump.
Yet, even before the interview aired in full on Sunday night, Graham responded to a clip of the interview by calling for a Senate investigation into a possible “administrative coup” as reported by McCabe.
Face the Nation anchor Margaret Brennan first played the clip of McCabe saying Rosenstein was the one to bring it up.
“Senator, that’s a tremendous allegation to make,” she then said to Graham. “Have you ever asked Rod Rosenstein if, in fact, that conversation [about the 25th Amendment] happened?”
“Well, he’s publicly denied it, but the whole point of Congress existing is to provide oversight of the executive branch,” he began.
Then after calling it an allegation of “administrative coup”, he continued on: “So I promise your viewers the following: We will have a hearing about who is telling the truth, what actually happened.”
Graham further cautioned to remember the source: “Mr. McCabe, you remember, was dismissed from the FBI For leaking information to the press, so you got to remember the source here.”
