Meet the Woman Who Threw a Shoe at Hillary Clinton

Las Vegas police has released the identity and mugshot of the woman accused of throwing a shoe at former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during an event in Las Vegas Thursday. 36-year-old Phoenix resident Alison Ernst was arrested for disorderly conduct and ultimately released after federal authorities decided not to press charges.

Ernst managed to sneak past security for the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries meeting at the Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino without credentials and got within approximately 60 feet of Clinton before pulling an orange and black sneaker out of her bag and hurling it at her. Clinton ducked out of the way and appeared mildly shaken-up as she continued her speech, later joking, “Thank goodness she didn’t play softball like I did.”

The suspect “appeared to be in an agitated state but aware of what she had just done,” according to a report filed by a Las Vegas police detective.
