Meghan McCain and Ana Navarro had a heated disagreement over the politics of cable news networks Friday, especially when McCain called CNN a network for “Democrats.”

“When you’re talking about media coverage and liberal media bias, it’s real and it really exists,” McCain began. “Pew research said in 2012 that Obama had 39 percent positive coverage compared to Romney’s 3 percent. So I’d rather have a conversation why Republicans don’t have the same kind of fair and balanced media coverage that Democrats do than automatically jumping to terminology like ‘enemy.'”

“Meghan, the Republicans have a station that’s dedicated to propaganda – Fox,” Michael Avenatti protested.

“So do the Democrats, CNN,” McCain pushed back, and Ana Navarro – a regular CNN contributor and a Republican – took umbrage with that.

“CNN tries to be very balanced,” Navarro said. “CNN has commentators on like me, and every time I’m on, I’m against someone who’s defending Trump.”

“So, I mean, MSNBC, where you worked once – ” she tried to continue, but McCain cut her off, saying that she worked there a “very, very long time ago.”

“Okay, but it was part of your history,” she shot back, and McCain put up her hands in defense, saying, “Don’t come for me!”

“You just came for CNN knowing I’m

a CNN-er,” Navarro replied, to applause from the audience.

“This is our last show. I really enjoyed this season. This is the last show before we go on break,” McCain said, trying to defuse the tension. “I’m not interested in redoing arguments you and I have had, Ana. We vastly look at this differently. I do think I represent a lot of Republicans in the country who think CNN – by the way, Jake Tapper is one of the best journalists in the country, it’s not all that – but CNN does have a bias among Trump supporters and Republicans.”

But that didn’t do anything to ease the conflict, and the two continued to talk over each other and clash until Sunny Hostin asked: “Where’s the bell?”
