With all this talk of a brokered Republican convention in a few months, there’s been some talk that maybe Paul Ryan would be a great consensus candidate for party delegates to rally around.
Well, Megyn Kelly brought this up to Ryan tonight, after we learned that not only does the Speaker of the house preside over brokered conventions, but Ryan was unaware of this.
She asked him if, in the scenario where no one has a consensus at the convention, he would want to step in. Ryan said absolutely not.
He said the Republican nominee will be someone running for president now, he has no interest in being president, and he’s focused on trying to unite the party in the House.
