Melania Spox, as She Complains Really Hard About Media: I’m Sure I’ll Be Accused of ‘Whining’
Melania Trump deputy chief of staff for communications Stephanie Grisham appeared on Fox News to defend her CNN op-ed, and as she recited a laundry list of complaints about the media, lamented that she would be “attacked” for “whining.”
On Monday morning’s edition of Fox & Friends, Grisham lashed out at CNN contributor Kate Brower over an opinion piece that was critical of the first lady, and to which CNN published a rebuttal from Grisham.
Grisham began by claiming that Brower “just got her facts wrong,” but then failed to name a single fact that the opinion piece got wrong. In fact, Grisham complained about a lack of coverage for things like Mrs. Trump’s Liberty University speech on opioids, her “Be Best” anti-bullying campaign, and her appearances with military families.
“I know I will be attacked for saying it’s not fair, that I’m whining, but we are defending ourselves,” Grisham said.
Unfortunately, it is Grisham who appears to have her facts mixed up, because every one of the issues she complained about not being covered were included in Brower’s opinion piece. Her premise was that Melania could have used any one of those experiences as an example of the “hardest” part of being first lady.
Instead, in her recent interview with Sean Hannity, Melania identified a different hardship.
HANNITY: Yes. What’s been the hardest for you since you become first lady? What’s been the hardest thing that you have to deal with?
TRUMP: I would say the opportunists who are using my name or my family name to advance themselves, from comedians to journalists, to performers, book writers.
HANNITY: Does it hurt?
TRUMP: It doesn’t hurt. The problem is they are writing the history and it’s not correct.
This led Brower to opine that the response “proved that she doesn’t understand what it means to be first lady,” an opinion — right or wrong — that Brower supported using the very facts that Grisham complained are not being covered.
