Member of Trump’s Diversity Council Resigns After DACA Announcement: ‘I Tried to Work’ With WH

Javier Palomarez, President and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, has resigned from his position on President Trump‘s diversity council after the announcement today that DACA is ending.

Minutes after Jeff Sessions spoke, Palomarez said on HLN, “I officially resign from that council effective immediately.”

On CNN yesterday, he said he may resign if DACA was rescinded, and today he explained his decision:

“I tried to work as hard as I could with this administration on this issue. And I continue to want to work with them on other issues like tax reform, like health care reform, and so many other important things, but I really don’t see the logic in doing what we’re doing right now. This didn’t have to happen.”
