Michael Bay Defends Benghazi Film to O’Reilly: ‘Politics Got in the Way’ of Gripping Story

michael bayMichael Bay, the director of the new Benghazi film 13 Hours, defended the content of the film from charges of politicization on Fox News tonight.

Bill O’Reilly told Bay it’s a good movie, but it maybe assumes its audience knows the whole Benghazi backstory already. Bay disagreed, saying that he’s heard plenty of praise from generals and that “both sides of the aisle are really impressed with the movie.”

Bay insisted that the movie is completely apolitical, lamenting how “the politics got in the way of this great human story that happened.” He said the story of the Americans in Benghazi is a great one of human beings who put themselves in harm’s way to save lives.

(Fun fact about O’Reilly and Bay: the Fox News host made a cameo in Transformers 3.)
