Michael Moore Gives Maddow The Insider’s Tour Of The ‘Two Michigans’ (Guess Which One He Lives In)

Filmmaker Michael Moore paid a little visit to Rachel Maddow‘s MSNBC show to explain that there are two, distinct Michigans, at least in terms of people’s political ideology.

There’s the Michigan, he explained, “that has this long history of populism, the union movement, the Flint Sit-Down Strike seventy-five years ago this month, got the UAW its first industry-wide contract.” This, he said, is “the majority of Michigan.”

But then there’s a second Michigan, he continued, which “exists in the Northern part of the state, where I live, up in this red part of the state” and that always seems very upset at what the majority of “us” are doing. This is the Michigan where people “hate Detroit and Flint and they moved out of there to get as far away sometimes as they can from these areas that they don’t particularly care for.”
