Mitch McConnell has gone from making it clear he’s not a fan of Donald Trump to getting in line behind the Republican nominee, using the will of the voters as his excuse.
He said on CBS This Morning today that Trump won fair and square, and so “it’s disrespectful of the Republican electorate to say ‘I’m smarter than you are and I’m not gonna support your choice.'”
Because McConnell doesn’t want a continuation of the Obama presidency, he said he’s willing to gamble on “somebody new”––especially somebody who indicated he would pick someone more conservative for the Supreme Court.
He did admit that he wishes Trump was “more studious” and maybe thought more about “prepared text” over
